Superintendent of Schools - Richland School District |
| Description: |
Richland School District is a quality school system with dedicated students, staff, parents and community members. We’re a team working together to improve student learning. As we look ahead to the next decade, our team will focus on three major areas – teaching and learning, facilities and finances. What’s best for students will continue to be at the center of all decisions. We have a number of programs which contribute to our success, but it all begins with our employees. Teachers are in classrooms helping students improve their academic skills. Support staff are behind the scenes making sure our schools operate smoothly. Principals are the instructional leaders who keep school staffs focused on their learning improvement
goals. Simply stated, our employees are professionals who do an outstanding job serving students. We have the privilege of living in a vibrant community that supports and values education. A voter-approved bond issue in 2003 resulted in the renovation/construction of five schools. Hundreds of parents volunteer throughout the District. Local businesses are enthusiastic partners. The Richland School District wants to help all children be the best they can be. We look forward to hearing from you.

Superintendent - Educational Service District 105 |
| Description: |
The Board of Directors of Educational Service District 105 is seeking applicants for the
position of superintendent to replace Dr. Jane
Gutting, who will be resigning July 1, 2010, following 11 successful years in the position.
Educational Service District 105 supports 25
public school districts and more than 20 state approved private and tribal schools in South Central Washington toward achieving student success. As a service agency, our purpose is to meet the expressed needs of local school districts by coordinating and providing programs for the needs of approximately 60,000 students in the four counties we serve. Themagency’s work is carried out by approximately 125 employees.
We work in a cost-efficient manner to:

• Introduce educators to new research and creative ways of teaching and learning.
• Implement and manage several cooperatives for
services of mutual benefit to our districts.
• Provide administrative, business and financial
support services to districts.
• Offer innovative professional development and
training based on district needs.
• Make available new technology.
• Establish and nurture partnerships that engage
our communities in the goal of improving
education both in and outside classrooms.
Our cost-effective and cooperative approach
brings this region approximately $30 in K-12 and
early learning services for every $1 in state funding we receive. Our resource leveraging capabilities make us a unique partner in education.
ESD 105 carries out liaison activities between
local school districts, the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Washington State Board of Education.
ESD 105 Vision
Expand the capacity of districts to serve their
students’ needs in a local, state, national, and
global environment.
ESD 105 Mission
Promote equal educational opportunities for all
students in South Central Washington by:
• Adocating for educational excellence
• Assisting with administration and informational
services
• Providing staff development
• Managing cooperatives
Educational Service Districts were created in 1969
by the Washington State Legislature as Intermediate School Districts (ISD). These regional agencies were created to replace the 39 county superintendent offices in an effort to provide more productive use of funds,
increased educational leadership, and more services to local school districts.
In 1972 the State Board of Education
reduced the number of ISDs from 14 to 12.
Effective September 8, 1975, the Washington State Legislature changed the name to Educational Service District. In 1977 the State Board of Education reduced the number of ESDs from 12 to the present 9. That same year, ESD 105 moved to its present location in the former Union Pacific Railroad terminal building,
having previously occupied offices at the Yakima
County Courthouse. The ESD 105 Conference
Center was added in 1992. |
